'I'm so excited.' 'I'm so happy it's finally here.' 'I'm so happy.' All through the preparations on the morning of the wedding, Diep kept saying how happy she was. Nothing could keep the day from being perfect. Not even having to stuff her dress in a box under the bed and wear a backup. Not even a bridesmaid arriving only 15 mins before the ceremony, without a bridesmaid dress, because of a rerouted flight and lost luggage. None of it mattered, because they were getting married. And it was perfect. Diep and Steve are two of the most genuinely caring people that I've ever met, both for each other and for everyone they meet. I'm glad that they've found each other, and wish them a huge congratulations! [blogshow id=45aa player=0 autoplay=0 toolbar=1]
Shannon and Jon - Yarmouth wedding photography
Writing the words for these posts about weddings can be really tricky for me. Today I've been struggling to find the words to explain how beautiful it was to see Shannon and Jon come together and get married. I would like these posts to somehow show each time how special it is to me to be involved. To somehow reveal how even in the face of tradition and ceremony how the couples' personality always shines through and makes every wedding special, regardless of what colours things were or where it took place. It's hard to do that and not sound cliché or say the same things over and over. I think that's why I really enjoy sharing the pictures because I think they do a much better job than my writing ever could of what the day was and who these two fabulous people are. So, for now, I'm going to stop writing and say what's always said but can really mean so much, Congratulations Shannon and Jon! I truly wish you all the best. Melissa and Joel - Saint John Engagement Photography
This is one more engagement session from my trip to Saint John. When Melissa and I were first e-mailing back and forth about their wedding photography she asked if it would be okay if the engagement session included some pictures of them canoeing on Lily Lake in Rockwood Park. I replied something along the lines of, 'That would be great!' Immediately, I had this weird mix of looking forward to a really unique session and horrible visions of pulling a wet, angry couple out of the lake after they capsized (probably while doing something I had asked them to do for a better picture). Turns out I didn't need to be worried, even though these beautiful old Chestnuts aren't the most stable canoes, Joel could probably paddle through a hurricane. And they didn't even flinch as I asked them to go around, and around, and around to take more pictures. We finished up with some pictures in the nearby Public Gardens where we had a bit more of a chance to chat. They're a lovely couple and I'm really looking forward to their wedding, whether or not it involves a canoe. [blogshow id=4581 player=0 autoplay=0 toolbar=1]
Shannon and Jon Engagement - Yarmouth wedding photography
Shannon and Jon's wedding is coming up this weekend. We squeezed a last minute engagement session in on Saturday. These were at Sealed Landers Park (named after one of Sherrie's ancestors and an early settler of Yarmouth) and despite the typical Yarmouth fog blowing in from the harbour it was a lot of fun. See you two on Saturday! [blogshow id=4575 player=0 autoplay=0 toolbar=1]
Erin and Adam - Saint John Engagement photography
That's right, the groom is another Adam. I'm not sure whether it makes it easier or just more confusing to have multiple grooms that share my first name. We'll have to see. I went to high school with Erin (Go Saints!) and thanks to the wonders of Facebook keeping people in touch I'm really happy to be shooting their wedding this year. We headed out to Mispec Beach for this session and then continued out to the lighthouse at Cape Spencer after a little detour that ended with a 'No Trespassing' sign. Something along the lines of 'Trespassers will be given a close up tour of the Bay'. It was a beautiful evening and I had a great time hanging out with them. Oh yeah, and taking some pictures.
