I'm a photographer based in beautiful Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. I shoot
portraits and weddings as well as exploring fine art photography.
When I am out shooting I try to make images, not just take pictures.
Creative photography is a difficult medium because at its root,
photography is not a creative process. The camera simply mechanically
records the light it is pointed at. The creativity rests with the
photographer making choices before, during, and after shooting. Those
choices are what can elevate the level of the picture from simple
capture to image.
I am continually inspired by photography and its rich and relatively
short history. I love reading biographies of past photographers to see
how the camera affected their lives. I'm also fascinated by the
relationship between the technology and the resulting image, how our
tastes seem to change with and rebel against technological advances. I
love the way that the accessibility of digital photography has caused a
new explosion of images. I can't wait to see the way it is used in the
future.
Wedding and Portrait info
My approach to wedding work is to try and highlight the ways that your
wedding reflects your individuality. Instead of trying to fit your
wedding into my idea of what the pictures should be like, I try to
adapt my processes to reflect what your day is like. I work with you to
create a list of shots that you want so that you are happy with the
results. I like to provide a balanced coverage that includes taking
candid shots to capture the feel of the day, shooting the details that
you've created that make it stand out as specifically your day, as well
as including the more traditional shots.
My portrait work is very similar to that of my wedding work. I want to
work with you to come up with something that you'll be happy with. I
also like to incorporate some of the alternative techniques that I use
in my fine art work. This gives your portraits a really unique fell.
Portrait shots are done on location. There are plenty of great spots
around here to shoot.
Pricing
Please note that my pricing has changed as of January 1st, 2010.
Portrait Pricing
$60 - Contemporary Session - Portraits with a relaxed contemporary
look. This is usually about 1 to 1 1/2
hours. Included are an online gallery for proofing and print ordering,
as well as a
disc of low resolution proofs (suitable for e-mail, Facebook, etc.).
$115 - Vintage Session - Art for your walls is the goal of this
session. The pictures end up with a funky
vintage look. To do this I take the pictures both with the Through the
Viewfinder technique and various toy cameras.
The higher cost is to account for the film, developing, and scanning
expense. An online album and a disc of low resolution prints
are included with this session as well.
Wedding Pricing
All packages include an online preview /
ordering gallery and a disk of low resolution digital files.
$1950 - An engagement session, coverage for rehearsal and dinner, full
wedding day coverage, and a designed album.
$1250 - An engagement session and full wedding day coverage.
$800 - Coverage for ceremony and formal portraits.

8x10 - $15
11x14 - $40
Other sizes and products are available. I can have prints made on
