Trees through stained glass in Overton. I like the look of this. It feels like getting a glimpse of the space between two frames in a movie to me. This was just a quick experiment. I’ll have to go back and shoot more to see if I can get something really workable.
film v. digital? really?
On The Sunday Edition last week they posed the question of ‘film vs. digital’ to a couple photography professors. My response is confusion at the segment even being conceived at this point. Film versus digital has never really been a question in my mind. Different equipment has different uses. If you want a shot that requires film, you use film. If digital works better for you, use digital. Those who did argue about which one is inherently ‘better’ have largely quieted down now. There were some interesting points in the discussion about the nature of photography but even the guests tried to stay away from saying one side was better than the other. I was really surprised that this would come up on the radio again.
Here’s Ilford’s most recent statement on the future of film. (link)
new shirt
Modeling the shirt that my wonderful wife gave me for my birthday in as much of a superman pose as I can muster. Go CBC!
beach snow
It was a beautiful day for the beach yesterday. We had a really nice walk before watching the sun go down and the eclipsed moon come up.
World TtV Day (yesterday)
Taken yesterday for World TtV Day. There were no celebrations going on here as I was sick in bed all day recovering from the flu. I managed to take a couple of snaps while lying in bed. I’m feeling quite a bit better today though.
new old camera
My second Kodak Duaflex IV arrived yesterday. Just in time for World TtV Day. I was playing around a bit with it today to see how the distortion differs from my first one. It seems like the viewfinder is a bit more clear on this one. I was originally thinking about dismantling this one for another project but I think I might demolish my first one instead. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can click here to see my explanation of the technique.
