We bought our first local berries of the season at the farmer’s market today. To celebrate I whipped up some biscuits and made shortcake. It’s a little hard to see in this picture but there are actually three layers of biscuit in that serving. Delicious.
Sherrie usually forces some quince branches sometime before winter is over. Seeing something from our garden blooming makes me believe that spring is coming. I felt a little weird making these blooming branches look out at the rest of the bush stuck out in the winter wind and rain.
We’re having a very good amaryllis season this year. Sherrie picked up three bulbs after Christmas and they all look like they’re going to bloom. This one might have five blossoms and one of the other bulbs looks like it will send up two different flowering stalks. Hopefully our veggies will be as productive this summer.
