Denise and Curt 16 August 2010

Congratulations Denise and Curt! A few weeks ago I tagged along and shot second for Suzanne at their wedding in Barrington. Suzanne’s a great photographer and it was fun seeing how she does a wedding. Huge thanks to Denise and Curt too for not minding me being there. Shooting second to someone else is an interesting challenge. My main goals were to stay out of the way and complement instead of copy Suzanne’s coverage. Even though the impending weather forced the ceremony and reception inside, the rain held off long enough to do the pictures outside.

The Hideibs - Yarmouth family photography 29 June 2010

hideibs-5

I had a great time doing this session with the Hideibs on the weekend. We’ve been getting to know them over the past few months and have loads of fun whenever we get together. I think their amazing personalities come through in these shots. They’ve wanted a family picture done in front of this sign since they moved here. It was really interesting for me to try and make the background more of an element of the picture while maintaining focus on the subject. The other place we went was down around the old cotton mill. There are a lot of great textures and colours there to work with. Enjoy!

baby photos 30 April 2010

I had a session the other day with this fantastic 4 month old. We started outside but it wasn’t an ideal day. He found it too bright. Even in the shade if his head went up, his eyelids went down. So we headed inside, where he was much happier. Having a new little guy in our house makes the various stages of development really apparent. A few times I found myself thinking, “I wonder when T is going to be able to do that?” I find baby photography really fun because they’re completely unguarded with their expressions. If you’re interesting them, you’ll know. If you’re boring them, you’ll know too. Enjoy the cuteness:

Cape Forchu sunrise (part 1) 18 March 2010

Thanks to Daylight Savings Time getting up for the sunrise is easier this week. I headed for Cape Forchu yesterday morning. I’ve split this post into two, one today and one tomorrow, because I ended up with so many images I want to share. The one thing I didn’t get a picture of is the lights of the fishing boats out on the water. I don’t think that I’ve been out there after dark when the boats were out. It looks like the lights of another town out there.

golf course sunrise 13 March 2010

This stretch of sunny days has been incredible (8 today). I’m not expecting this many days of sun in a row in the summer. I was able to take advantage of it again yesterday and explored the golf course at sunrise. I’m fascinated with the idea of making pictures that are within walking or biking distance. These were all taken within about a ten minute walk from our door. We’re working to make a lot of our life have less of an impact on the environment, so finding beauty nearby is important to me. There is no shortage of that where we live.
