I found this among the ruins of a building near our house.
quince
This is actually most of the fruit that grew this year on our quince bush. I gave it a good trimming so hopefully either next year or the year after it will be in better shape to produce more fruit. I’d love to try making some quince jelly. Well, since I’m not much of a jelly maker, I guess I’d love to try eating some quince jelly. Anyone want to make it for me?
chinese lantern double
This is a combination of two exposures in order to try and get some detail in both the front and back. I’m pretty happy with the result.

binosaur
Whenever I come across this type of fixed binoculars it reminds me of different trips that I’ve taken in the past. I remember looking through the ones in Alma, just outside Fundy National Park, and getting a sense just how truly powerful the tides in the Bay of Fundy are by seeing the tide marker way out on the ocean floor. On a trip to Toronto, at the top of the CN Tower there were binoculars that you had to pay to use. One pair was broken though and I could look down and see the Leafs skating around many stories below. Because I discovered it was broken, and because there happened to be action on the ice right then, I felt like that moment was somehow fated just for me.
water and the cup
Maybe I’m crazy (and feel free to tell me you think I am) but even though I know that this is a picture of the beach in November, it still makes me want to go wading. In other ocean news, a very large shark washed up about an hour from here. I don’t think my work schedule will permit an adventure to find it in the next few days. Alas.
The B.C. Lions pretty much steamrolled the Alouettes last night in the Grey Cup. And then they broke the Cup in the celebrations afterwards. Did you notice that I just capitalized Cup? That shows the respect I have for it and should give you a sense of my disappointment in knowing that it is not indestructible.
whale bone
I went for a walk with Sherrie yesterday on the beach near her parents’ place. This whale bone is almost all that’s left of a whale that washed up a few months ago. I don’t know what piece of the whale this is but I find the shape of it very interesting. It looks like a bird in flight to me. That or shoulder pads for hockey, I keep waffling between the two.
