iris
I love the way that irises grow by the beach. They look so fragile but they handle a lot of pounding from the wind. I took this picture last week when Sherrie and I went for a walk where the Sara Gamp had washed up.

Another Utata project is the Thursday Walk. The idea is that on Thursday you get out for a walk before noon and take pictures along the way. I didn’t get very far on my walk today but here are a couple of pictures I took.
I’m off to the beach this afternoon with a couple of project ideas in mind. They may not turn into pictures today but you never know.
I took this for Utata Walks This Way, the Utata weekend project for last weekend. Legs in motion is the idea. I didn’t think I was going to end up participating but I ended up with a good opportunity on Sunday. It’s easier to get a picture of Macy in motion than one of her sitting still.
In the fog and occasional rain, I spent some time at a beach this morning. It’s incredible the life that you can find when the tide goes out. I love the variation of the periwinkles, barnacles, crabs, birds, etc. I had a crab scuttle away from where I was going to step to hide under a rock. I like this picture because there are so many different forms of life (or previous life I guess) in it, including me.
Yesterday I went to Port Maitland beach first thing in the morning. It was an absolutely stunning morning. I went for a run and then took some pictures. This crab was food for a few things. Food for the bird who got most of the meat. Food for the little water bugs that were cleaning the shell while I looked on. Food for the photographer looking for a subject.
I recently became a member of Utata, an online photography salon. It’s a great way to connect with other photographers to share pictures, ideas, etc.. One of the biggest things that I like about it is that they are continually coming up with projects to inspire people to get out and shoot. There are larger, ongoing projects and smaller projects. The one for this weekend is Utata Drinks it Up. This photo is my contribution.
